Pros:
There is definitely an improvement in taste. My shots are more smooth and have a brighter taste after the new basket was dialed in.
The basket is a tight fit for my Breville barista pro portafilter. There's no slight angle towards the base, thus has more space and can easily fit more coffee for less chance of a mess.
Quality is very consistent with every shot so far!
Cons:
If you have a Crema brand distributor and tamping puck, the tamp won't reach deep enough to tamp the grounds properly.
The IMS basket is slightly wider than stock and even with the use of the hand tamp that was included with the Barista pro machine, there is a slight wall of grounds that will need to be tamped on either side of the basket. The stock basket internal diameter is roughly 53.6mm near the tamping area. The IMS internal diameter is roughly 53.8mm around the same area. The Crema tamping puck measures at 53.36mm, and the stock breville hand tamp measures at 52.8mm.
The IMS internal depth is at 27.2mm and the stock breville basket measures at 25.3mm.
I'm only placing this as a con because I'm unable to use my aftermarket tamp on this new basket, and the stock tamp is slightly smaller so I have to tamp more often and more cautiously to ensure an even consistency using the stock hand tamp that was included with my machine; Although I'm sure a new tamping puck will take care of this small issue! Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase and I very much enjoy the higher quality extractions! I do recommend this product to anyone looking to upgrade their Espresso experience!
