How Loud is the Caffewerks Water Pump System?

A Sound Comparison on Different Surfaces

First lets look at the average decibel levels in life:

40 dB: A quiet library
60 dB: An ordinary spoken conversation
85 dB: A food blender
91 dB: A pneumatic drill
100 dB: A nightclub
110 dB: A live gig or concert
130 dB: An airplane taking off 100 meters away

The Caffewerks water pump system is a reliable, and smart choice for your mobile water needs, but how loud is it? To answer this, we tested the system on three different surfaces—wood, concrete, and a rubber mat—to evaluate its sound levels in real-world scenarios. Here’s what we discovered:

All three surfaces were about 60 decibels, the same as an average conversation volume level.  The perceived over all volume, and decible did change depending on the material the system was placed on.

1. On a Wooden Bench

Wooden surfaces are common in many coffee shops and home setups. Unfortunately, they can amplify vibrations due to their lighter and more resonant nature. In the video, the Caffewerks pump system on a wooden bench produces a noticeable hum that reverberates through the surface. While the noise isn't overwhelming, it may be more prominent in quieter environments or spaces with hard walls.

2. On a Concrete Surface

Concrete is dense and rigid, and our video shows that placing the pump system directly on concrete creates a bit of an echo sound.

3. On a Rubber Mat

Finally, we tested the pump on a rubber mat, a surface designed to absorb vibrations. Unsurprisingly, this setup produced the quietest results. The rubber mat not only dampens vibrations but also prevents the sound from traveling through other surfaces. This option is perfect for those who prioritize a silent workspace, whether at home or in a café.

It is important to remember that your pump system will only cycle (turn on and off) when actively drawing water into your equipment. It will not be running continually.

A larger accumulator (like our 2 gallon system on the medium and high volume systems) will keep the pump off longer than a smaller accumulator (like the 1/2 L on the low volume and home panels).

The noise level of the Caffewerks water pump system largely depends on the surface it’s placed on. For the quietest experience, pairing the pump with a rubber mat, or more insulated material and choosing a system with a larger accumulator will be your best combo.
